TPI 350-Powered 1938 Lincoln Zephyr Custom Roadster Conversion

This 1938 Lincoln-Zephyr started life as a coupe and became the subject of a custom street rod build carried out in the 1990s by Dave Iverson of South Dakota. More than 5,000 hours were reportedly spent converting the body to a convertible, shaving the exterior, adding a Mustang II-style front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, and installing a 350ci Tuned-Port Injection V8 linked to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a ten-bolt rear end. The car was purchased by the current owner in 2019 and relocated to Arizona, where adjustable air springs were installed and the interior was redone with maroon leather upholstery, a mahogany wood dashboard, and a Kenwood sound system. Highlights include a V-shaped windshield, a gray soft top, Vintage Air climate control, power windows, a Lokar shifter, a banjo-style steering wheel, and AutoMeter gauges. Nicknamed “Gracie,” this custom Lincoln Zephyr is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with an Idaho title. The roof and windshield frame were removed during the build, and the doors were shaved and outfitted with electric poppers. A fuel filler door was added to the left-rear fender, and the body was nosed and decked before it was repainted in silver and gray with maroon pinstriping. Details include a ribbed rear bumper, fender skirts, polished side mirrors, and clamshell exhaust tips. A V-shaped, low-profile windshield frame was fabricated along with a manually operated soft top assembly, which wears a gray cover. Painted wheels wear color-keyed hubcaps and polished trim rings, and they are wrapped in whitewall tires. The frame was notched, and a Mustang II-style front assembly was installed along with a three-link rear setup and adjustable air springs at all four corners. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs. Prescott Upholstery in Arizona trimmed the cabin in maroon leather that extends to the power-adjustable split front bench as well as the rear bulkhead and door panels. A custom center console created by Brinkley Automotive houses a Lokar shifter, a Kenwood digital media receiver, an Aire Jax Four Play control panel, and dual cupholders. A Vintage Air climate control system and power windows have also been added. Monza Enterprise of Boise, Idaho, crafted the dashboard from mahogany wood. Backlighting highlights an etched panel in the center. The banjo-style steering wheel is mounted to a tilt column and sits ahead of AutoMeter instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 4k miles. Total mileage is unknown. A polished air tank and dual air pumps are mounted in the trunk, which is trimmed to complement the cabin. The TPI 350ci V8 was serviced with an oil change in preparation for the sale. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission and a ten-bolt rear end. A display board will accompany the car. The car is titled as a 1938 Lincoln ZEP convertible using VIN H50691. The odometer is listed as Exempt.
